The story of Ceracaif (Home of Refuge) came into being when Ciro and Maria Teresa Murguia retired, bought land in Guatemala's western highlands, a coffee-growing region. They built a building, and took in abandoned children who had nowhere else to go. Today, the team cares for 60 to 70 children, ages 3 and up. In addition to providing a home for the children, the orphanage property also houses a school.
But their growth made it obvious they needed a partner. Two years ago, Orphan Outreach began working with Ceracaif (Home of Refuge). Last year, mission teams from all over North America ministered to the children, taught bread making, helped with daily chores, completed a chicken coup and much needed painting.
